| Preventive Dentistry: The emphasis of the practice is prevention. Prevention involves preventive measures to address dental caries and periodontal disease. Dental decay is a process that affects all ages. Caries risk assessment focuses on individualized "cavity" evaluation and may involve saliva testing, anti-microbial rinses, use of fluorides, as well as other preventive methods. Dental Hygiene: A goal of the practice is to bring a person to periodontal maintenance. For the majority of patients, periodic dental cleanings (and periodontal therapy, if indicated) will be the primary treatment. Conservative Dentistry: The practice is both conservative in treatment and in the type of treatment performed. Treatment will be necessary and appropriate, with no FUN (functionally unnecessary) treatment done. When treatment is indicated, it will involve minimal removal of tooth structure and the use of conservative restorations. The practice is also a consumer- oriented practice. A good reference on ethical dentistry is: The Intelligent Consumer's Complete Guide to Dental Health: How to Maintain Your Dental Health and Avoid Being Overcharged and Overtreated by Jay W. Friedman. Comprehensive Care: When restorative needs are necessary, all options of restorations will be presented. Both "tried and true" treatment and the latest technology will be utilized to restore the teeth and gums to optimal health and function. Restorative treatment include; fillings (traditional and well as cosmetic), root canals, veneers, crowns, bridges, complete and partial dentures (including cosmetic claspless design), and implant restorations. Cosmetic dental services are also available with the use of porcelain veneers and restoration, and teeth whitening. The practice welcomes patients of all ages. Children, as old as 1 year old, should come in for an initial oral health assessment. If treatment is needed, most work can be done in the general dentist setting. In cases where extensive treatment is needed, the practice will coordinate care with pediatric dentists. The practice is also attentive to the special oral health needs of the elderly. Special prevention methods are available to control and prevent root cavities, particularly in the case of reduced saliva flow. Emergency Care Available: The practice welcomes emergency patients. In case of after hour emergencies, Dr. Pai can be reached through his cell phone (909) 649-2454. |
